  The Cafe at the end of the universe is not really a Cafe but rather some sort of high price 7-11 with less than estellar options, I have yet to meet someone who disagrees. If you're into soft drinks, just don't drink the ice.
  
  The view is pretty awesome and I don't think a purchase is required to enjoy the tables as they are part of the observatoey. So pack your lunch or grab a to go lunch from Il Caprocio on Vermont and have a little pick up there, sunset here is magical complete with a view of the Hollywood Sign, Santa Monica mountains and on clear days a little strip of the Pacific ocean.
