  In 1957 my mom and dad were one of the first families that built this church,my dad Dreyfus Gardner was one of the first elders along with brother Bohannan,brother triplet and a few others. In 1958 I was born but not by myself there we two others yes you guessed it triplets. My parents already had 4 children and then mom had use three on our brother Rons first birthday so that made us the largest family at Van Nuys.
  Then the Bohannans became the second largest family so you have an idea of who I am. Gods family was who this congregation was when I was growing up there.
  This church was my second home when services were over I couldn't wait until Wednesday bible study then when that was over I couldn't wait for Sunday services I loved being in the house of God,on Saturdays my dad would come and clean the church and get comunion ready for Sunday service us kids would come and help clean as we got older we still helped clean but I would also help bible school teachers get classes ready for Sunday school.
  I was baptized at this church when I was 8 years old by brother Brannon. This congregation is why I am who I am today the teachings of Gods word was nothing short of a miracle from God guiding the men of this church. I hope one day soon to visit with my family and grandchildren.
  I find myself often going back to Van Nuys Church of Christ in my mind and thinking of all the fond memories I have especially VBS
