  I love the bar itself, with all the care in its drink selection, but I especially appreciate the shaded back patio. It's almost perfect, but the only thing over the years that's kept me from being a regular is the staff; no one is outwardly rude, but there is a sense of snobbery and exclusivity that I've rarely experienced, especially in such a casual environment. It's not a VIP vibe, but I feel like the managers must come from some privilege and resent that North Hollywood isn't yet as posh as they wish it to be. As a result, the atmosphere isn't as lively as it could or should be-- ironically, as it is on the main drag of the bougie Arts District.
  Idle Hour has the potential to be the Perfect Bar, but as much as I keep trying to see otherwise, it's actually my least favorite bar in North Hollywood. It's a busy bar on busy nights, but this is where people come when they pretend to be real for once; I listen, and the pretentious attitude draws a pretentious crowd. If only
